| | | Wayne L. Hall, 85, of Newcomerstown passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at his daughter, Cindy Albaugh's, residence in West Lafayette, O., from a long battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Coshocton, a son of Lester and Nora (Walker) Hall.
He attended West Lafayette High School and entered the Army in 1942, fighting in the battle of the South Pacific Theater in World War II. On Sept. 14, 1946, he married Theda M. Fuller, who passed away Dec. 14, 1990.
He first worked as a carpenter helping to build the homes in the neighborhood of Pretty Products, then worked for Jones Metal in West Lafayette. In 1951, he was hired at Heller Tool Co., later known as Simond Tools, and worked there until his retirement in 1986 after 36 years of service. He painted and wallpapered all his adult life and at one time owned Hall's Wallpaper and Paint Store on Main St. in Newcomerstown. He also drove the school bus for West Lafayette School System. He was a life member of the VFW, a 42-year member of the American Legion in Newcomerstown, and a longtime member of the NRA.
Surviving are his two daughters, Cindy Albaugh and companion Mitch Wolfe of West Lafayette and Trudy (Dave) Corbett of Fresno; grandsons Kim (Deleesie) Albaugh, Rob Albaugh, Dave (Dana) Israel, all of West Lafayette, and Tim (Lisa) Albaugh of Coshocton; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a niece and two nephews; and good friend Lillian Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theda; his parents; a sister, Joann (Lester) Parsons of Houston, Texas, formerly of West Lafayette; and a niece.
Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at 1 p.m. in Addy Funeral Home at Newcomerstown. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery at West Lafayette with military services conducted by Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Coshocton County, P.O.
