| | | Wayne L. Swigert, 65, of 222 Park Hill Dr., Newcomerstown, O., went to be with the Lord Friday, May 1, 2009, at Riverside Manor Nursing & Rehab Center in Newcomerstown.
He was born Oct. 25, 1943, at Newcomerstown to the late Mary (Taylor) Swigert and the late James Swigert.
A graduate of Newcomerstown High School Class of 1962, he received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Kentucky University.
Wayne retired in 1998 after 30 years as an industrial arts teacher for Newcomerstown schools.
A member of First Baptist Church of Newcomerstown, he was a trustee at the church and his request was to be cremated. He was a member of the Stark County Bicycle Club and Southern Ohio Forge and Anvil Club and enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving are his spouse, Louise Carothers Swigert, whom he married Dec. 20, 1969; one daughter, Jennifer Lendon and husband George of Bethesda, O.; one son, Matthew W. Swigert and wife Sarah of Newcomerstown; four grandchildren, Sadie, Bea and Millie Lendon and Ethan Swigert; one sister, Sarah Jean Little and husband John of Port Washington.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, Lyle and Forrest Earl Swigert.
A celebration of life service will be held in the First Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, beginning at 11. Pastor Tom Barber and Rev. Nelson Miller will officiate.
