| | | James M. Worthington, 79, of 507 Heller Dr., Newcomerstown, O., died Thursday, April 23, 2009, in Coshocton County Memorial Hospital at Coshocton, O.
He was born Feb. 17, 1930, at Coshocton, O., to the late Hazel R. (Fortune) Worthington and the late Paul James Worthington.
He is a 1948 Newcomerstown High School graduate and an Army Korean War veteran.
He retired from Clow Water Systems of Coshocton in 1991 after 35 years and also Bank One of Newcomerstown in 1996 after 20 years.
He had attended Church of Christ of Newcomerstown and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431. He enjoyed house painting and watching TV, especially the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, the Buckeyes and old Westerns.
Surviving is his spouse, Arminda E. (Forney) Worthington, whom he married June 27, 1965. Survivors include two sons, Rod Worthington and wife Susan and Randy Worthington and wife Lorie, all of Newcomerstown; one daughter, Robyn Stephen and husband Toby of Fruita, Colo., two stepdaughters, Rita Cognion Ziga and husband George of Kihei, Hawaii, Ronda Kenney and husband John of Newcomerstown; three grandchildren, Jimmy (Heidi) Worthington, Ryan Worthington and Sammy Nelson; eight step-grandchildren, Shawn (Lindsay), Shannon, Johnnie, and Todd Kenney, Tammy (Ed) Rexroad, Arika Stephen, Martha Bayliss and Andrea Ziga; eight great-grandchildren; two special fishing buddies, Sylvester Young and Steve Dietrich.
All are welcome to the graveside service at West Lawn on Thursday, April 30, 2009, beginning at 11 a.m. conducted by Charles Newell in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown, O. Military services will be conducted by Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.
