| | | Charles H. Fogle, 84, of 25588 Township Rd. 252B, Newcomerstown, O., died Friday, April 10, 2009, in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover, O.
He was born Nov. 22, 1924, at Moundsville, W.Va., to the late Herbert and Gladys (McCosh) Fogle. He was a graduate of Canton South High School and a World War II Navy veteran and was retired from Peabody Coal Co.
While in the service he was a gunners mate serving in the European Theater and was in the invasion of Normandy and many other campaigns. He was a member of the VFW, Eagles, American Legion and Good Sam's Club. He liked to make wine, raise a garden, hunt, fish, and play cards. He enjoyed eating ice cream and raising cows on his farm, and as a young boy spent great times with his grandfather. He was the former owner of several coal mines and a trucking company.
His spouses, Dorothy Kooy Fogle and Doris Forney Fogle, are deceased.
Survivors include one son, Terry William Fogle and wife Ruth of Webster, Fla.; one daughter, Linda Beach and husband Tom of Dover; one stepson,RobertCasterline andwifeMarthaof Newcomerstown; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and his dog Sparky.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Herbert Fogle and Danny Fogle; two sisters, Edena Brown and Genive Dramble.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009, beginning at 1 p.m. at Addy Funeral Home at Newcomerstown with Rev. Chauncey Eggan officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown, O. Visitation will be held in Addy Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Military services will be conducted by Newcomerstown Veteran Honor Guard.
