Bernard O. Watson, 93, of 301 E. State St., Newcomerstown, O., died Sunday, April 5, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover, O.
He was born Aug. 12, 1915, at Elizabeth, W.Va., to the late Margie Mae (Barker) Watson and Arzey Watson. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served in World War II. He was retired as a machinist at Heller Tool Co. in Newcomerstown for 40 years. He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church of Newcomerstown and enjoyed coon and squirrel hunting, fishing, camping and any outdoor activity. His grandchildren were his life.
He was married to Virgie (Tanner) Watson, who died in January 1981.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Sue Watson and husband Terry of Newcomerstown and Mary Lou Nealey of Newcomerstown; a daughter-in-law, Pat Watson of Newcomerstown; three grandchildren, David Watson and wife Deb, Donald Watson and wife Starla, and Becky Watson; great-grandchildren, Desiree, Holly, Dusty, Sarah, Tiffany, Brady, Ella, Xander, Landon, Arron, Kayla, Matt, Alan, Justin and Joshua; step-grandchildren, Tanya, Renee, Tiffany, Marie, Amber and Sentel; two brothers, Denver Watson of Newcomerstown, Delford Watson and wife Betty of Clarksburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Goldie Reed of Michigan, Velma Heres of Clarksburg, W.Va., Maybelle of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Richard Watson; six brothers, Melvin, Owen, Jesse, Abe, Andrew and Bud Watson; and two sisters, Sylvia Stahl and Anna Mae Watson.
Services will be held Monday, April 13, 2009, beginning at 11 a.m. at West Lawn Cemetery with Rev. William E. Ramsay and Pastor Thomas Anderson officiating.
