Lloyd H. Hart, 82, of Newcomerstown, O., died Friday, March 6, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover, O.
He was born Dec. 2, 1926, at Guernsey, O., to the late Alice (Booth) Hart and Howard Hart. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the Occupational forces in Japan. He had been a self-employed excavator, employed at Brode's, Clow and General Tire, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Francis DeSales Church of Newcomerstown. He also was a member of Elks Lodge No. 1555 of Newcomerstown where he was Past exalted ruler; American Legion Thomas C. Montgomery 431, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3303 and Knights of Columbus of Newcomerstown.
Surviving is his wife, Catherine J. (Popyack) Hart, to whom he was married June 4, 1949; two sons, Michael Hart and wife Mary of Newcomerstown, Brent Hart and wife Pam of Westerville; four grandchildren, Donna Bradford, Tommy Hart, Jennifer Hart and Allison Hart; four great-grandchildren, Toby, Katelin, Hunter and Gunner; three brothers, Donald Hart and wife Marge of Newcomerstown, Clifford Hart and wife June of Newcomerstown, John Hart and wife Kay of Coshocton.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Gene, Roger, Tom and Jack Hart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis DeSales Church of Newcomerstown on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Father William J. Faustner will officiate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown, O. Visitation will be at Addy Funeral Home on Monday, March 9, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. Military services will be conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. Elks Lodge Services will be held Monday at 6:45.
