Glenn A. Baker, 76, of Newcomerstown, O., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in Louis Stokes V.A. Medical Center at Cleveland, O.
He was born Aug. 12, 1932, at Bakersville, O., to the late Cordelia A. (McCormick) Baker and the late Ambrose Baker.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Baker Motor & Machine Shop of Newcomerstown.
He was a member of Wesley Community Chapel, Masonic Lone Star Lodge No. 175, and American Legion Auxiliary Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431.
On Feb. 22, 1955, he married Suzannah Jane West Baker, who died Aug. 18, 1990.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Robey and husband Wilbur and Nancy Lennon, all of Columbus; three sons, Glenn Pugh, Craig Pugh and wife Holly, and Benjamin Wanamaker, all of Newcomerstown; one stepdaughter, Jane Marie Parks and husband William of Kimbolton; one stepson, Douglas VanWormer and wife Jan of Howell, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, Tina Robey, Christy Float, Wilbur Robey Jr., Wendy Verdone, Ashley Pugh, Lacey Lynch, Devony Pugh, Malia Bird, Toby VanWormer, William Parks, Frankie June Battle, Megan Ruth VanWormer, Douglas VanWormer; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ginny Christina Wanamaker, and two brothers, Forest D. Baker and Earl Baker.
Services will be held at Addy Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, beginning at 1 p.m. with Rev. Roger Bourne officiating. Burial will take place in Bakersville Cemetery at Bakersville, O. Visitation will be held in Addy Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Military services will be conducted by Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. A Masonic service will be held Thursday at 8:15 p.m.
