William E. Fisher Jr., 85, of Newcomerstown, O., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in Riverside Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Newcomerstown, O.
Born Nov. 30, 1923, at Lorain, O., he was the son of the late Edna M. (Stewart) Fisher and the late William E. Fisher.
He was a 1941 graduate of Uhrichsville High School and a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired as supervisor from Simonds Cutting Tool in Newcomerstown. He was a member of American Legion ? Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431 and Veterans Foreign Wars Post 3303, both of Newcomerstown.
On June 19, 1943, he married Barbara "Bonnie" Maurer Fisher, who died March 10, 2004.
Survivors include one son, Carl "Chine" Fisher and wife Sandra of Humboldt, Ill.; two daughters, Leigh Matsel of Uhrichsville, Kayte Marstrell and husband Paul of Newcomerstown; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Anna Louise Maurer of Uhrichsville.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Fisher III, and one sister, A. Jean Trotter.
Bill's request was to be cremated.
