| | | Jesse R. Hunt, 86, of 305 Poplar St., Newcomerstown, O., died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, in Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center at Cambridge, O.
He was born April 4, 1922, in Tuscarawas County, O., to the late Ethel I. (Grewell) Hunt and Jesse B. Hunt.
He was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from Jan. 9, 1943, until Nov. 26, 1945.
In 1988, he retired as manager of the American Legion Lodge of Newcomerstown.
Jesse was a Methodist by faith. He was a life member of American Legion-Thomas C. Montgomery 431 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3303 and DAV No. 67.
On Feb. 14, 1953, he married Vera M. (Corder) Hunt, who survives. Survivors also include his sons, Jesse B. Hunt of Coshocton, Jeffrey A. Hunt of Newcomerstown; two sisters, Josephine Shurtz and Dolly Greathouse, both of Newcomerstown.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bonnie Hunt, Julia Hunt and Janice Hunt.
Services will be held at Addy Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at 1 p.m. Pastor Tom Barber will officiate. Burial will take place in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown, O. Visitation will be held in Addy Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, from noon to 1 p.m. Military services will be conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.
