| | | Clyde D. Carruthers, 77, of 14282 Cross Rd., Newcomerstown, O., died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, in Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center at Cambridge, O.
Clyde was born June 2, 1931, in Oxford Township, Tuscarawas County, O., a son of the late Robert and Mary (Woodard) Carruthers. He was a 1949 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. He was a U.S. Marine Korean War veteran, serving from 1951 until 1953. He retired from Simonds Industries of Newcomerstown in 1997 and was a farmer. He was Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie E. (Addy) Carruthers, whom he married on May 22, 1952. Survivors also include one son, Donald R. Carruthers and wife, Ann, of Newcomerstown; one daughter, Debra Bush and husband, Michael, of Newcomerstown; four grandchildren, Angel Ott-Lasher and husband, Victor, Steve Bush and wife, Leandra, Katie Marstrell and husband, Joe, and Kristen Carruthers; one great-granddaughter, Marie Bella Lasher; and two sisters, Betty Schaar of West Lafayette and Shirley Davis and husband, Neal, of Newcomerstown.
Clyde was preceded in death by five brothers, Fred, John, Billy A., Robert and Albert Carruthers; and two sisters, Carol McVey and Nancy Carruthers.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, beginning at 1 p.m. in Addy Funeral Home at Newcomerstown with Rev. Chauncey Eggan officiating. Burial will take place in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown, O. Calling hours are Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Military services will be conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.
