| | | Raleigh - Ruth Davenport Riddick, 98, formerly of 7589 Mackeys Road, Mackeys, NC, died early Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Wake Med. After health issues, she came to live with her daughter, Judy Riddick Edwards and her husband, Nelson on Coffey Street. Ruth was born in Washington County on August 20, 1911 to the late Newsome Harrison Davenport and Madeline D. Davenport.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Saints Delight Church of Christ, 4670 Mackeys Road, Roper, NC 27970.
The family will visit prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary.
Burial: Church Cemetery

Daughter: Judy R. Edwards and husband, Nelson of Raleigh
Step-Daughter: Maxine R. Hooker of New Bern

Sisters: Marion D. Windley of Columbia
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Columbus George Riddick; daughters, Meretta and Rebecca; son, Calvin; and step-children, Cleo, Louise and William. Ruth was also preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
