| | | VIRGINIA BEACH – Howard E. “Sandy” Sandusky, Sr., 72, of the 3700 block of Old Forge Road, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, March 7, 2004. A native of Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Edd W. and Eva Miller Sandusky. He was married to the late Helen “Lucille” Sandusky for 40 years. Mr. Sandusky was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having retired after 30 years of service as a Lt. Commander. He also worked for the J. Henry Holland Corporation for 25 years as Vice President of sales. He had a long-time friendship and association with Newport News shipbuilding as a result of his professional life. Mr. Sandusky was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by a daughter, Teresa M. Sandusky and her fiancee, Gary; four sons, Howard E. Sandusky, Jr. of Chesapeake, R. Michael Sandusky of Chesapeake, James D. Sandusky of Portsmouth, and Joseph A. Sandusky of Portsmouth; two granddaughters, Crystal N. King, and Carly N. Sandusky, both of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, K. Greg Baucom and Tanner E. Sandusky, both of Virginia Beach; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis T. Hurst of Yorktown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Rev. Amy R. Stapleton officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and at 3716 Old Forge Road, Virginia Beach at all other times.
