Personalizing a Funeral Service

Celebration of Memories:

A "Celebration of Memories," is a program to memorialize loved ones. This is an annual program that we have offered for the past 15 years. A Celebration of Memories allows the Alliance area to come together to remember their loved ones who have passed away. This includes those who have died recently to loved ones who died many years ago.

A Celebration of Memories is usually  held in November or December, prior to the holiday season. This enables us to memorialize our loved ones during what usually may be a difficult time of year. A candle lighting service is held, including a moment of silence, to reflect on those gone, but not forgotten.

A local speaker, either a clergy or person educated in grief counseling helps those present to remember they are not alone. Celebrating the memories of a loved one, in an atmosphere of comfort and support, helps one to realize one is not alone. The focus is a positive uplifting message to help families, not only at the holidays, but through out the year.

Musical entertainment is provided after listening to the speaker''s words of comfort. Refreshments are served,  to enable those present to continue to share their memories in a warm and friendly environment.

Memory Tree: Another way to memorialize loved ones, is to place an ornament on our Memory Tree, which is located in the lobby of the funeral home.  This tree stands from the first week in November, until Christmas; to display ornaments special to those who are special to us.

This year we added a live, balled blue spruce to the funeral home. This tree had candles lit in remembrance of those who died during the past year. After the "Celebration of Memories Program", this tree was donated to the Alliance Parks Department. Staff members and family members helped to plant and water the tree in its new home at Butler Rodman Park. Ribbons were added as a sign of remembrance to those who died this year.

Carnation Days in the Park

Carnation Days in the Park is held every August to celebrate Alliance, "The Carnation City". For two weeks each August, activities are planned to bring the community together to celebrate the history of our city, and the founding of the Scarlet Carnation, our state flower. This is a chance for us, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian to relax and visit with friends. During the Carnation Days in the Park, we sponsor the Hot Air Balloons. The balloons lift off from Silver Park in Alliance. Our staff sets up a tent close to the lift off area where we hand out helium filled balloons to children of all ages. In the lower area of the park, many non profit and service organizations have booths offering assorted concession items. Various musical entertainment is offered, with a major fireworks display on the last evening. This is a fun time for all.

Business After Hours

The Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce, in co-operation with local business establishments, sponsor Business After Hours. This is a way to spotlight a local business one evening each month. Each business who partakes has the ability to welcome visitors into their environment. We, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home have hosted this event, which provides another way to meet community members. We offered tours of our building, informational pamphlets, a look into the history of our funeral home, door prizes, and refreshments.

After Care Program

The service we provide does not end with the funeral. We are committed to making sure that each families requests are met. A follow up telephone call is made approximately one week after each funeral to ensure that no detail was overlooked. Our staff members take great pride in the amount of personal care given each family. We are open to and welcome comments on how we may better serve the Alliance community.
