Q and A's

SHOULD YOU PLAN YOUR FUNERAL SERVICE AHEAD OF TIME?

Take this short survey and answer that question for yourself.

  1. Have you ever been responsible for making funeral arrangements?
Families are smaller and often are divided by distance.  Could you make the many decisions that have to be made at the time of a loved one''s death - by YOURSELF?

  2. If yes, when? 5? 10? 20 years ago?
In the last three to five years funerals have become more contemporary and much more personalized.  What if your loved one wants a "Theme" funeral? Or a casket with their favorite college football team''s colors?

  3. In the event of your death, who would make YOUR funeral arrangements?
According to a statistical survey in the National Cemetery Broker publication in 1998, 44.8% of all deaths in the United States two years ago were under the age of 40.  Can you guarantee who will be alive at the time of your death to take care of the final arrangements you left for someone else to do?

  4. How much might you expect to pay for a funeral?
Cemetery and funeral costs usually double every 10 to 12 years.  The opening and closing of the grave at a cemetery costing $700.00 today could cost $1,400.00 ten years from now.  What price do you want to pay?

  5. Would it help your family if you could pay for your funeral with small payments over a long period of time?
93% of all families are totally unprepared when a death occurs.  In most cases funerals can be pre-paid for over several years, or over two years same-as-cash.

  6. Do you have funds set aside specifically to pay for funeral arrangements in the event of your death?
Most life insurance will not keep up with the rising cemetery and funeral costs.  There are many instances where life insurance is not available at the time of death.

  7. If you have given any thought to the subject, which of the following would you choose for yourself?  Burial? Or Cremation?
There are many options when it comes to burial or cremation. Please feel free to Contact Us

  8. Do you maintain up-to-date biographical information and accurate family records to assist you or a loved one with funeral planning?
Having this information on file at the funeral home ahead of time insures accurate spelling of names and relieves anxiety during one of the worst days of your life.  It is easier to update information at the time of a death than to think of it when your mind is filled with the many other decisions that must be made.

  9. Are you aware that prepaid funeral plans are available which freeze funeral costs helping to protect you from inflation?

  10. Would it give you peace of mind to know you could plan everything in advance and your funeral would be carried out according to your wishes?

  11. If properly established, you may have a fully paid funeral plan and still qualify for state assistance (for nursing home care etc.) Would this be important to you? If so
