| | | Clara Vander Sloot, age 94, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Sheldon Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon.
Memorial services will be Friday, July 18, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Greg Timmer officiating.
Burial at 10:15 A.M. Friday, in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon
Visitation will be Thursday, July 17, from 2-9 P.M. with the family present from
7-9 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.
Clara Vander Sloot was born on December 17, 1913, in Sheldon, Iowa. She was the daughter of Klaas and Nettie (Wibben) DeVries. She lived her youth in Sheldon, where she attended the Sheldon Christian School.
She was united in marriage to Gerrit John Vander Sloot of Sioux Center, Iowa, on March 21, 1935, in Sheldon. They lived and farmed in Sheldon. Clara worked part-time at the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon for several years. In 1982, they retired. They later moved to the Christian Retirement Home. Gerrit passed away in 1992. Clara moved to the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in May of 2004.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon where she attended Ladies Aid.
Clara passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Sheldon Sanford Senior Care.
Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons and daughters-in-law: Marvin and Arlis Vander Sloot of Mesa, AZ, Charles and Chris Vander Sloot of Grand Rapids, MI; daughter-in-law: Til Vander Sloot of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerrit, son Gary, three brothers and five sisters.
