John Vanden Hull, age 81, of Archer, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 10:30 A.M. at the Archer Reformed Church in Archer. Rev. Jeremy Wiersema officiating,

Burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa.

Visitation will be Friday, May 16, 2008, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.


John Vanden Hull was born on July 23, 1926, in Archer, Iowa. He was the son of Garrett and Johanna (Beuzekom) Vanden Hull. He lived his youth in Archer, where he attended school and graduated from Archer High School.
He was united in marriage to Esther Den Beste of Archer, Iowa, on October 1, 1948, at Esther’s parents’ home in rural Archer. They lived in Archer, where John was a mechanic at Garrett’s Motor & Supply and also custom bailed for many years. In 1960 they began farming and eventually moved to the farm near Archer. John and Esther enjoyed wintering in Alamo, Texas, for over twenty years.
He was a member of the Archer Reformed Church in Archer.
John enjoyed driving to vacation destinations throughout the years. His CB handle was the “Mobile Man”. He liked John Deere tractors and had a collection of farm machinery. He restored tractors, cars and trucks, and liked to listen to Country Western and Gospel music.
He will be remembered as a hard working, loving, husband, father and grandfather.
He passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Esther Vanden Hull of Archer, IA; his children: Carol De Boer of Hawarden, IA, and her son, Lance; Betty and Daniel Bogaard of Pella, IA, and their children, Nicolas and John; Jerry and Rhonda Vanden Hull of Archer, IA, and their children, Amy and Brandon Mitchell and daughter Peyton, Jodi and Dan Kelley, and Kyle; Glen and Barb Vanden Hull of Archer, IA, and their children, Paul and fiancée Heidi, Katie and fiancé Jon; Donald and Rhonda Vanden Hull of Archer, IA, and their children, Michael and Angela and daughter Bailee, Eric, and Lisa; Dennis and Carmen Vanden Hull of Sheldon, IA, and their children, David and fiancée Kristen, Chad, Craig, Alexa, and Drew; Debra and Stephen Kollasch of Whittemore, IA, and their children: Anna, Anthony and Zachary; one brother: Marvin and Marylis Vanden Hull of Onawa, IA; one sister: Lucille Van Zee of Sioux Center, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law: Larry De Boer; one brother: Jacob Vanden Hull.
