| | | Matthew "Bob" Buyert, age 76, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Memorial services will be Friday, May 2, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Greg Timmer officiating.
Burial will be Friday at 9:30 A.M. at Memory Garden Cemetery in Sioux Center, Iowa, prior to the Memorial Service.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, 2008, from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.
Matthew “Bob” Buyert was born on December 28, 1931, in Hull, Iowa. He was the son of Gerrit and Tracy (Mulder) Buyert. He lived his youth in Hull, Iowa, where he attended a country school. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, from May of 1953 to April of 1955, when he was honorably discharged.
He was united in marriage to Sylvia Joyce Sybesma of Sioux Center, Iowa, on January 17, 1957, in Sioux Center. They lived in Sioux Center, Iowa, where Bob farmed and drove truck. They moved to Sheldon, Iowa, where he was employed at AGP, drove egg truck for Armour Company and drove the Sheldon Christian School bus. He retired in 1989, due to his health. Bob and Sylvia enjoyed traveling throughout the United States on bus tours.
Bob was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, where he was a member of Christian Fellowship.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, bird watching, playing guitar, vegetable and flower gardening and studying genealogy.
Bob passed away on Monday, April 28, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Sylvia Buyert of Sheldon, IA; his children: Joyce and Ron Van Meeteren of Sheldon, IA; Claire Buyert of Clinton, IA; Garvin and Karen Buyert of Rock Valley, IA; Larue and Gregg Westemeyer of Spirit Lake, IA; Vernell and Lisa Buyert of Sheldon, IA; Angela and Jevon Klyn of Sheldon, IA; Andrea and Rick Theis of Sheldon, IA; 19 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one brother: Arlin Buyert of Stone Mountain, GA; one sister: Goldie and Aiko Kamies of Boyden, IA; one brother-in-law: Terry Vrieze of Clive, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters and 5 brothers.
